Turn Your Point-and-Shoot into a Super-Camera

I came across this posting today: Camera Hacks: Turn Your Point-and-Shoot into a Super-Camera. If you are feed up with the limitations of you point and shoot, it might just be the thing your looking for.

I might give it a go with my G9 - though I think it might be best if I read the manual to find out what it can do first!

This is brilliant, at first I thought it was some sort of joke, these sort of things always appear too good to be true.

I gave it a go on my IXUS 850, I have been crying out for a battery meter and I couldn't believe it didn't come as shipped.

You can't do any harm since it sits outside of the firmware and you load it manually or you can choose to have it load automatically, you just place some files on the SD card, if you choose to not load it, clear the card or use a different card it is gone so you can't lose, give it a go.

They even had a workaround to make my 4Gb SDHC cards bootable with some FAT formatting in a PC first otherwise having to load it in manually each time it is switched on would be a real pain.

It does loads of things, even has it's own scripting if you want to get clever but it is well worth it just for the battery meter alone.

Thanks for the tip Chris, it put a smile on my face....
